Playing with Spray Paint

I decided to try making a stencil and spray painting it onto cardboard. Grabbing cardboard from the basement area, I wrote out "Defy Gravity" and proceeded to cut it out.

Then, I practiced with the spray can and gave it a whirl. All in all, I think it came out fairly well as a stencil, although the lines aren't as clean as they could be.

In addition, the negative image created looked pretty cool. I really liked how the color spread around the letters. In some ways, it is even better than the positive version!

After the first one, I did a couple more, playing with different weights and angles. Here is everything together.

After doing the stencil, I played with spraying paint onto a blank cardboard to see how it would look. The spray can was acting a bit funny, and I ended up with these fun spots.

Here's another macro shot of a different area.

This one is probably my favorite. The lighting was entirely accidental, but I think it adds a lot to the mood of the image.

All in all, it was a great experiment and learning tool! I had a good deal of fun making it and will likely be doing more such things in the future.
